Internship Experience

Brand Ambassador Intern at the Mall of America; Minneapolis, MN

June 2018-September 2018

Graphic Design and Videoboard Intern with the Madison Mallards; Madison, WI

This summer, I am working as a brand ambassador intern at the Mall of America. My role for the season is to promote the MOA brand through various platforms. During day-to-day mall hours, I work in the Summer Lounge redeeming Mystery Gift Cards for guests. I also work on a street team during various events, such as: pride parade, stone arch bridge festival, 4th of July parade, and many more. I have been able to engage in multiple interactions and experiences so far, and am excited to share more about what my roles are.

Two summers ago, I was hired as a press box intern with the Madison Mallards Northwoods League collegiate baseball team. My role was to operate and design the graphics for the full color outfield video board for 38 home games at Warner Park. I also worked closely with Macy Nguyen who was the Director of Digital Marketing and Design Manager of the team, along with several others. I assisted Macy in ensuring that advertising contracts remained fulfilled during the games. I gained expert knowledge of the video board software - ClickEffects and even assisted the PR and Webcast interns with the Mallards website graphics and video content during games. There were also several events that the Mallards staff ran during the summer such as: Festival Foods "Shake The Lake" and "Epicnic". There I executed tasks like the set up and take down of tents, supported VIP ticket holders with knowledge of concerts and navigation of grounds, and even general catering duties.

May 2017-August 2017

Honorary Consulate General of Norway; Minneapolis, MN

June 2016-August 2016

During my first internship experience, I was given the opportunity to look inside the world of Norwegian-American relations. I had the pleasure of working closely with the Vice Consul Christina Carlton, and organized/arranged meetings for her. My summer long project consisted of coordinating the annual Norwegian Student Exchange event, which is a conference where businesses talk to Norwegian students about working in America. Some of my roles in this project were: contacting vendors, arranging a venue, receiving commitments from speakers and businesses, etc.

Work
Experience
Server at Popeye's on Lake Geneva; Lake Geneva, WI

June 2014-August 2015

Over the first two summers of college, I worked as a server in a restaurant across the lake from my hometown. It's a wonderful family restaurant located on the water with a view overlooking the lake. I assisted customers with their food and drink orders, and worked with management to better our services. It was at this job where I achieved such skills as multitasking, attention to detail, and time-management.

Activities Attendant at The Abbey Resort and Avani Spa; Fontana, WI

May 2012-August 2013

Once I was in high school and able to drive, I was hired to work for a resort in my hometown. It was at this job where I first gained valuable office experience and customer service skills. Some of the few things that were required of me throughout day-to-day operations were: monitoring and cleaning outdoor/indoor pools, organizing and coordinating events/conventions, nannying and providing care for guest families, etc.

Volunteer Work
The Beacon House; Eau Claire, WI
September-December 2016

In the Fall semester of 2016, I was enrolled in a small group communication course. We were assigned a semester long project called "Social Problems Research Project" that required us to choose a social problem in Eau Claire and bring awareness to the community and campus organizations. In my group, we chose to focus on The Beacon House, which is a halfway home dedicated to housing families in need for up to 30 days. Some of the tasks my group and I completed were: scheduling meetings with students and employees at The Beacon House, creating volunteer forms to hand out to students and community members, contacting and visiting businesses to hand out flyers and set up donation boxes, and purchasing toiletries and nonperishable goods from The Dollar Tree with the money we raised.

Education
University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire | B.A. Integrated Strategic Communication

Graduated in May 2018

When I first started college I was undecided, because I wanted to keep an open mind about what I could do in the future. When I realized how much I enjoyed keeping up with current events, I applied to the college of Communication and Journalism. After more research into what my school offers, I found that integrated strategic communication with a focus on advertising is what interested me the most. I would like to work on planning and producing products or multimedia interactive websites to better integrate customers. I hope to work with a creative team in graphic design at an advertising agency in the future.
